If mr. Klinkershmith actually heard from God three times like he said, then why does he keep telling all his lies. I remember thinking during his hunger strike that there is something seriously wrong with the man. Well, I was right! He thinks he is Jesus. I don't know about the Navy preachers, but I would be offended if someone besides Jesus claimed to purchase my freedom through his own personal sacrifice. What gall!

I guess this is Gordon's attempt to start a cult. "I heard God's voice three times, who are you to question me?" It sounds very Jim Jones-like. Seriously, I don't think that Gordon could recognize the Holy Spirit if He came walking down the street wearing a red hat.

Wow! I think that you just posted this blog. I have been reading up on Klingersmith and can't believe what a big liar he is! No wonder that Navy courtmartialed him. What a shameful man.

NavyChaps,

Way to go on the new blogs. They are very much needed.

I too am very offended at Klingenschmitt's messianic claims of "salvation" for Navy Chaplains through his "sacrifice." I have known people before with a martyr complex, but this guy is extremely weird. I thank God that he is no longer hurting God's people in the Navy. Too bad, he hasn't quit his "Look At Me, I Am So Wonderful" public relations campaign. He is really hurting and deceiving a lot of Christians out there. But, that is what happens with self-appointed prophets.

That is very true, Gordon Klingenschmitt is a self-appointed, self-anointed prophet. No one, including God, asked him to do the extremely unprofessional antics that he has done. For him to claim that his crime was inspired by God is way, way over the line.

I find all of this Klingenschmitt story so difficult to believe. Every chaplain that I have ever had in 27 years of active service has been extremely professional men of God. However, this Klingenschmitt fellow seems to be the exception to that rule. He is lucky that he did not have me as his commanding officer. I would have brought him up to a General Court Martial. Klingenshmitt is very fortunate that he is not currently serving prison time in Ft Leavenworth.

You got it right, Klingenschmitt is a certifiable nutcase! God "spoke" to him three times(?). What a start for a new cult leader! Watch out when the new "Klingenschmitt Key-Lime" Koolaid flavor comes out. Run for the hills!

He definitely heard from God, too bad it was about three years too late. God obviously was trying to tell Gordon to shut his mouth years before he was put on trial for being stupid. Wearing a military uniform at a protest against the very service in which he swore an oath of office--now that is stupid. Yes, Gordon, God told you to shut up, but you couldn't hear His voice for three years because you were shouting your selfishness and stupidity from the housetops for way too long to hear His voice. Too bad for you.
